Audit mistakes are common and result in businesses being overcharged.
In the past week I have helped three clients with incorrect workers comp audits. In all three cases, the insurance company was trying to collect more additional premiums than deserved. Just yesterday, we uncovered that an auditor incorrectly included employer payroll tax and health benefit contributions in the audited payroll. This saved the client from paying an $8,000 audit. My Advice:
Don’t pay any audit bill until the audit has been reviewed for accuracy and you know exactly the discrepancy causing the additional premium is.
